Kiinde Twist Breastfeeding Essentials Kit Review

My biggest complaint about pumping into a bottle and transferring milk to a bag to freeze, then back again to a bottle to feed baby is the amount of milk that is lost. Kiinde has found a solution for this! The Kiinde Twist is a universal direct pump breastmilk collection, storage and feeding system. All of the Kiinde Twist pieces are BPA-free, PVC-free, and pthalate-free and top rack dishwasher safe. Kiinde Twist has a few bundle options to choose from. Today I will be talking about the Kiinde Twist Breastfeeding Essentials Bundle.

The Kiinde Twist Breastfeeding Essentials Kit comes with 6 Twist Pouches, 14 Direct Pump adapters, 1 Squeeze, 1 Slow flow Active Latch nipple with case, 1 Medium flow Active Latch nipple with case, 1 Fast flow Active Latch nipple with case, 1 Nipple cleaning brush and a bonus Foodii toddler feeding starting pack which contains 1 Foodii Filler, 1 Snack Spout and 1 Squeeze Spoon.

The Kiinde Twist system is made up of a few different parts, all of which are included in the Breastfeeding Essentials Bundle. There are 14 Direct Pump adapters which make your breastpump compatible with the Twist Pouches. There are 14 pump adapters because Kiinde wants you to be able to use your Twist pouches with any pump! The pump adapters are made for Medela, Evenflo, Hygeia, Ameda, Tommee Tippee, Lansinoh, Phipils AVENT, Playtex, ARDO, The First Years, and Spectra pumps. The pump adapters are also great as nipple adapters (more on this later). Your pump has an adapter that is connected to the Twist Pouches. You pump directly from your pump into the Twist pouches then store your milk in the pouches any way you please. You can freeze or refrigerate the Twist pouches. Twist pouches can be laid flat or stored standing up as they are self standing. Twist pouches are available in two sizes, 6 ounce and 8 ounce.

When you are ready to feed baby you can thaw or warm up your milk in the Twist pouches. Once the milk is warmed up you are ready for the Squeeze, aka the bottle. You insert the Twist pouches into the Squeeze, squeeze out all the air, then add the nipple. You can use Kiinde’s Active Latch Nipples (slow, medium or fast flow) or you can use the pump adapters to attach your baby’s favorite nipple. Once baby is done with the milk you can throw away the Twist pouch and wash the nipple. Easy Peasy!

The unique thing about the Twist pouches is you can pump directly into them, store them, then use them in the Squeeze bottle. The collapsable Twist pouches completely eliminate gas from baby’s milk and tummy. No transferring milk from a bottle to a bag to a bottle! The unique feature of the Squeeze is the openings on either side allow you to squeeze the Twist pouch to mimic a let down. The Squeeze has a contoured shaped which makes it easy to hold. The Active Latch nipples snap directly onto the Squeeze and are a unique one piece nipple. There are no parts and pieces to attach or clean. The Active Latch nipples come in three different flows, slow, medium and fast. They also come with their own case, which is recyclable. The Active Latch nipples are designed to help baby transition between bottle and breast. The Active Latch nipples require baby to have a deep, wide and natural latch and also require suction and massaging of the nipple much like the breast.

The Kiinde Twist Breastfeeding Essentials Kit comes with a bonus Foodi starter kit. This includes the Foodi Filler, a snack spout and a squeeze spoon. The Foodi kit turns your breast milk storage bags into food pouches! The Foodi kit is very easy to use. You fill the Foodi Filler with your puree, yogurt, applesauce or food of choice, place it on top of the Kiinde Twist bags and squeeze the food into the bags. You can attach the squeeze spoon or the snack spout to make this a convent easy to use food pouch!

You can buy the Kiinde Twist Breastfeeding Essentials Kit online at for $29.99. I have also seen Kiinde in Buy Buy Baby and Babies R Us.

  1. Have you tried the Minbie nipples with the Kiinde system yet? Curious if they will adapt easily using an existing adapter ring. Thanks!

    1. I will have to try that and get back to you. I do not have my kiinde system on me at the moment but will get to it as soon as I can!

  2. To use the nipple adapter, do you use the whole lid+nipple from the other bottle, or just the nipple itself? I want to have a few options on hand, and I’m trying to figure out if I need to purchase other bottles or just the replacement nipples. Thanks!

    1. You use the entire lid and nipple from your bottle. The ring the nipple goes into as well as the nipple. Most nipples will fit into either a wide neck bottle ring or a standard bottle ring. As long as you have a ring that will fit onto the Kiinde system and the nipple fits inside the ring, you might be able to only purchase nipples and not the entire bottle.

What do you think?
