Is it important to have clean your house regularly, be it by yourself or by someone like Modern Maids? Yes, absolutely. Does regular cleaning decrease developing potential health conditions and provide more hygienic conditions to live in? Also yes. But did you know the cleaners you’re using have a big impact on your health, too?
Most people do not know this, but your household cleaners could be damaging your health. We all want a clean house. We try to buy the products that will give us a clean house. We call people like NICK’S Window Cleaning to help with areas we maybe can’t reach by ourselves, or we don’t feel we can do a satisfactory job of. But some of these products stay in the air and on the surfaces of our homes. Most cleaning products use harmful chemicals, including volatile organic compounds. These VOC’s can contribute to chronic respiratory problems, allergic reactions and headaches.
Many of these products have the warning label “Keep Out Of Reach Of Children.” So we lock up the chemical cleaners, then use them on surfaces our children touch and even eat off of. The most common methods of exposure are through the skin and respiratory tract. Think about it, we clean our floors, our counters, the high chair, all with chemical cleaners. Our children then sit, walk, crawl and eat on these surfaces. Both my 3 year old and 1 year old put their fingers in their mouth. The cleaners that are on these surfaces are now on their skin and in their mouth.
These chemicals are not just affecting our children, they are affecting us as well. We breathe the same air, we sit on the same surfaces, we eat at the same table. We want to have a clean house, but we also want a safe house. Did you know your indoor air may be more polluted than the outside air? Some of this is caused by household chemical cleaners.
We can limit our exposure to these harsh chemicals by using eco-friendly and green products. Better yet, we can make our cleaning products. I try to use only green and eco-friendly products inside my home. This means I do not have any air fresheners. They are filled with toxic chemicals that hang around. Instead, I mix water with essential oils and spray that when I need a good scent. Better yet, I open some windows and let the fresh air take away my bad scents. I also make sure that my HVAC is professionally cleaned and maintained annually. The air filter upgrades and duct cleaning can drastically increase indoor air quality. You can also consider consulting a Kalamazoo duct cleaning agency or similar service providers who are more local to you.
Keeping on top of your cleaning also means making an effort to declutter as often as possible. There is no point holding on to anything that you no longer use so be sure to donate any unwanted belongings to charity. You might also find it useful to invest in some storage boxes. Putting things that you do not need on a daily basis into storage boxes helps to keep them clean and even makes the rooms in your house seem tidier.
For example, we recently spent a whole day decluttering our home office. It had become so cramped and there was loose paperwork, folders, and books all over the place gathering dust and attracting pests like spiders. However, after stashing the majority of the things cluttering up our office into this really useful 35l storage box – 3 pack, the whole room looks and smells so much fresher. I suppose what I am trying to say is that keeping your rooms tidy makes it easier to keep your rooms clean in the long run.
