Baby toys are so overwhelming! There are so many options. How do you know what baby will like? Hint, baby will like anything you put in front of them, for the most part. To help you navigate the baby toy aisle, here are a few of my babies favorite toys. These toys are from my first baby who is now 4.5 years old. I have gone through many, many, many baby toys. These are some of the ones that have survives the donation pile. My toys will not look exactly like what is available now because my toys are 4.5 years old. This list of toys is also geared toward my 3 month old. He does not sit, crawl or walk. These toys are perfect for the newly aware baby who loves to look at his surroundings and is starting to grasp toys. The list is not super long. You do not need many toys for this stage of development. The best toy is your face! Talking to baby is what gets all the smiles and giggles over here. But for those times I need some free hands, these are my go to toys.
First you need a safe place to set baby. I LOVE our Bright Starts 5-in-1 Play Activity Gym. This was actually given to me by my old nanny family and is a hand me down. The one I have is 7 years old. They do not make this exact play gym anymore, but they do have a similar one. What I love about the Bright Starts 5-in-1 Play Activity Gym is that I can make it be a rectangle when baby is first starting to lay on the ground. This keeps our pets away from baby and (mostly) keeps his siblings away from him. Now that he is a little bigger and scooting around we set the gym up more flat so he can move.
To set more toys on the activity gym we use Links Accessory Toy. These come in handy for years to come! They are great for attaching toys to the stroller or high chair so they never get too far way. The lovely drop it game is now a win for mom and dad!
Our Sassy Floor Mirror has been his favorite toy for almost 2 months. He LOVES to look at himself!
Books are so much fun! We love books in our family. I’ve started reading Lamaze Peek-A-Boo Forest to our baby. He loves the bright pages. The simple rhymes are fun for me and my older kids. This book is also textured so as baby grows this will continue to be a favorite.
We have a few of these Skip Hop Baby Treetop Friends Hug-and-Hide toys. My older kids love these toys as well. Baby loves to look at these and grab at the “feet”. My older kids steal these toys from him so much, you know it will be well loved for years to come!
We have moved within the last year and I can not seem to find my soft blocks. I will be buying a new set. Here are some of my favorites. TOLOLO 4PC Infant Baby Cloth Soft Animal Rattle Toy and Infantino Discover and Play Soft Blocks Development Toy
When I need a fun, safe place to set baby my go to is the Fisher-Price Infant To Toddler Rocker. This is a hand me down from my niece who is 15 years old. It has gone through 6 kids so far and still has a lot of life left! We have lost the toy bar, but it is still such fun! My baby actually preferred vibrations over bouncers. Because my older two kids loved the bouncer I did not have a vibrations chair. Then I remembered this was hanging out in the play room. I have used this since my baby was about a 8 weeks old. It converts to a toddler chair. My 4.5 year old still uses, and loves, this chair. I really, really, really love this chair. Unlike a bouncer this chair will not be outgrown. My baby can not use any infant chair anymore because he tries to sit up and will fall out. This chair has the perfect recline where he is comfortable and does not try to escape!
